Victoria Station, Church Walks, Llandudno,
Gwynedd

E-mail:
enq@greatormetramway.com
The Great Orme Tramway! It's the first place you
should visit when you come to Llandudno, 'Queen
of the Welsh Resorts'. The tramway is actually a
funicular railway - a system where two tramcars
are moved up and down hill by cable. As one
comes down the Great Orme it helps to pull the
other one up using a system of counterbalanced
weights. It's one of only two tramways in Europe
which operate on public streets. It operates
from March to October, and averages 5,000 trips
per year, transporting 120,000 passengers. View
to a thrill. As the tramway takes you up the
Great Orme you will find yourself enjoying a
thrilling view of one of Britain's finest
Victorian seaside towns. Llandudno's long
crescent promenade, wide shopping streets,
sweeping sands and wealth of family attractions
make it a perfect destination for a short
holiday, weekend break or day trip.

Snowdon Mountain Railway
Ltd
Llanberis, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, LL55 4TY
Tel: 0870 458 0033 Fax:
01286 872518
Majestic Snowdon dominates the glorious, ancient
landscape of North Wales. At 3,560ft (1085m) it
is a true mountain and a place of legend - said
to be the burial place of the giant ogre Rhita,
vanquished by King Arthur. Some believe that
Arthur’s knights still sleep beneath. Since
1896, the Snowdon Mountain Railway has been
making it easy to claim this mountain peak as
one of your lifetime achievements. In a
tremendously ambitious feat of engineering, and
uniquely in Britain, a rack and pinion railway
was built which rises to within 66ft of the
summit of the highest mountain in England and
Wales.

Swallow Falls
Betws-Y-Coed, Gwynedd, LL24 0DW
Tel: 01690 710770
VISITING North Wales without a quick look at
Swallow Falls would be a little like visiting
Rome without peeping into the Coliseum.
Unthinkable. This waterfall on the Afon Llugwy
has become a familiar natural celebrity over the
past 100 years and has featured on film,
postcard and canvas. While its principal
viewpoints are situated on the south bank of the
Llugwy with the convenience of ample parking
along the A5 and within the hotel car park, it
is observed far more dramatically if approached
on foot along the northern bank.
