and fossilised bones.
Today even most conventional
museums including displays which change but over recent
years there has been a growth in industrial and "living"
museums.
Here you can learn about local heritage, get a feel for how people lived
and worked, the hardships they endured...

The National Coracle Centre
is situated beside the beautiful Cenarth Falls
and Salmon Leap, housing a unique collection of
coracles from all over Wales and many parts of
the World: including Iraq, Tibet, India, Vietnam
and North America.

The County Museum presents
many aspects of Carmarthenshire's rich &
varied past.
Displays include local archaeology,
Egyptology, pottery, portraits, landscape
paintings, Welsh furniture, costume, a Victorian
schoolroom, life on the farm & the homefront
in World War 2.
The building was once
the palace of the Bishops of St. Davids (1542 -
1974) & it was here that the New Testament was
first translated into Welsh in 1567.

tranquil, private chapel used by the bishops.

The National Woollen Museum is dedicated to
preserving the history of the most important and
widespread industry in Wales. Exhibitions
include listed mill buildings and historic
machinery, along with plenty of amenities for
visitors including a coffee shop and picnic area,
gift shop, lift or level access to most areas of the site
along with facilities for disabled visitors, baby changing
area and high chairs.
