Cardiff and South East Wales -
Cycling holidays, Mountain Biking, Bicycle Hire, etc
Whether you bring your own bike or hire
when you get to the area, cycling holidays can be great
fun and allow you to really get to know the area.
On
organised holiday, you can stay in different
accommodation each night and your luggage can be
transported for you.
Mountain Biking is becoming
increasingly popular allowing you to get off the beaten
track away from all the traffic.
Bicycle Hire shops and cycling holiday
companies in the Cardiff and South East Wales area should be listed here
but we know that many are probably missing.
If you know of a suitable establishment which does not yet have an entry, please
submit the information
here.
Sustrans Cymru has co-ordinated a successful bid
to the ERDF Objective 1 Programme and the Welsh
Assembly Government that has secured over £4
million towards a £9 million project to complete
the Celtic Trail National Routes 4 & 47 between
Chepstow and Fishguard. The project will bring
up to 29 miles of the National Cycle Network
towards full standard, by replacing a number of
interim sections through areas of Pembrokeshire,
Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot,
Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr and
Caerphilly. The project provides funding for the
restoration of the Hengoed Viaduct on National
Route 47. It will also see the re-establishment
of a marketing team to promote the routes to
local users and tourists.
We take our name from the famous single-track
Mountain Bike Trail here in the Afan Forest
Park. Our bases are at the Afan Valley MTB
Training facility in the new Bryn Bettws
Mountain Bike Centre and Glyncorrwg. Log-Cabin
accommodation is available, but in Jan 2007 we
will be opening a new Hostel to sleep up to 30
with a full Trail Restaurant along with “clean”
Camping facilities with “HOT Showers” and all
this within 30 yards of the Wall trail. The Wall
is South Wales’s most popular man-made
single-track and it was voted the trail to ride
before you die by What Mountain Bike magazine in
2004. The Skyline and Whites Level Trail Head
lies only yards from another one of our Bicycle
Sales and Mountain Bike rental Centres in the
village of Glyncorrwg. Find us next-door to the
Glyncorrwg Ponds Mountain Bike Centre. We
provide MIAS Mountain Bike Leader Training
courses L1 L2, Bike Maintenance Courses and
Adventure riding experiences on Mountain Bikes
within South Wales. Bike hire also available.
The Taff Trail is a multi-purpose route between
the Cardiff waterfront (Cardiff Bay) in the
South and the market town of Brecon in the
North, passing close to Pontypridd and Merthyr
Tydfil.
