Steering you through Rugby's history going back more than 2,000 years. What is the story behind the school cap? How does the spark plug fit in with the heritage of Rugby? What was life like for Roman residents? As you walk through the museum, you can share the enthusiasm of the Victorian antiquarian Matthew Bloxam, who began to unravel the mysteries of Roman Tripontium. Watch the video to find out about the painstaking research which has brought the Tripontium Collection together.

In the social history gallery, reflect on the ups and downs of Rugby at work, at home and in the community over the past 200 years. For more than half a century, Rugby has been collecting work by modern artists... Spencer, Freud, Lowry, Hepworth, Sutherland to name a few. But it is only now, at the beginning of the new millennium that the collection can be put on show in its home town. With the opening of the stunning new art gallery in spring 2000, the Rugby Collection of Modern Art at last has a permanent home. Exhibitions of paintings from the Rugby Collection will form part of the gallery programme. If you are interested in a particular painting and it is not on display, you can make an appointment to see it. And make sure you visit the gallery regularly to see touring exhibitions featuring the work of a variety of artists.
