Heronbrook is one of Staffordshire's leading
coarse fisheries and fast becoming one of the
best match and pleasure fishing venues in the
country. Set in a picturesque valley amidst 10
acres of idyllic Staffordshire countryside, the
site is situated two miles north of Eccleshall,
just off the A519. The four pools where designed
by owner Neil Dale who has nearly forty years of
angling experience behind him. Neil has won many
titles in match fishing, the highlight being a
member of the Izaak Walton (Stafford) AA side
that blitzed the NFA Division One National
Championships in 1986. Neil has realised a
lifetime ambition and used all this experience
to create a superb fishery. All of the pools are
easily accessible to the disabled angler. There
are nearly one hundred purpose built platforms
on the Canal and Bridge Pools alone. The
Specimen Lake and the Match Pool have vehicular
access for disabled anglers only. New for spring
2002 will be the addition of a fishing lodge,
selling a selection of hot and cold drinks. A
small selection of tackle and bait will also be
available. Visitors can park their cars on a
purpose built hard surface car park adjacent to
all the pools.
BADEN HALL FISHERY is now one of the largest
pleasure fisheries in the Midlands - if not the
Country - comprising eight individual pools,
covering over 30 acres of water and holding over
275 pegs. All of the pools are stocked with
coarse fish - carp, bream, roach, tench, barble,
orfe, golden orfe, etc. Six of the pools are
available for match bookings, holding from 10-50
pegs per pool. Two pools are for the pleasure
angler only and are never let out for matches,
thus ensuring over 100 pegs are always available
for the day-fisherman, with carp reaching 32
lbs, bream 11lbs and tench 10 lbs. At the centre
of the complex is Tacklers Bar - the Clubhouse -
which has a fully licensed bar and extensive
catering facilities, enabling anglers to book in
for a full English breakfast or just a simple
bacon sandwich, a post-match buffet or a full
blown corporate entertainment day.
