This pleasant village with no
less than two traditional greens lies close to the
River Thames near its confluence with the River
Evenlode and was mentioned in the 11th century
Domesday Book. It dates back at least to the
Bronze Age, later becoming a Saxon settlement. Its
Norman church dates to the 12th century and has an
unusual eight-sided spire. |
