A busy market town, Bicester’s
existence preceded the 11th century Domesday Book.
It is best known today as a centre for the sale of
riding equipment and is home to a major shopping
‘village’. The novels of Flora Thompson which make
up her 'Lark Rise to Candleford' trilogy relate to
an area close to Bicester. The town centre boasts
a traditional market square and has a number of
interesting 16th century buildings. |
