The M&C Collection of
Historic Motorcycles
Matlock Street, Bakewell, DE45 1EE
Tel: 01629 815011
The collection has been put together by Peter
Mather and Phil Crosby of Bakewell and includes
the mundane "get-you-to-work" bike through to
the exotic sports tourer; from trials bikes and
scramblers to speedway and racing machines. In
addition to famous British names such as BSA,
Norton and Triumph, this collection has a range
of lesser-known marques from manufacturers who
typified all that was great in Great Britain.
Over 40 exhibits along with the period
memorabilia are on display. The collection is
intended to reflect something of the development
of the motorcycle from 1900 to the mid-1970s.
The purpose in opening it to the public is
twofold: firstly, that visitors may enjoy the
fine engineering of British Motorcycles and,
secondly, that a local charity might benefit
from any proceeds received. Both Peter and Phil
are volunteer drivers for Bakewell and Eyam
Community Transport, a registered charity
operating wheelchair accessible minibuses for
the community in the Peak National Park, and
this is the subject of their 'Motorcycles for
Charity' project.

Coach & Four-in-Hand & Celebration Carriage
Rides thro' the Derbyshire Dales. Make your
wedding day extra special. Arrive in style with
an elegant carriage drawn by two or four of our
beautiful dapple grey horses. First Class Bed &
Breakfast accommodation for you & your horse.
Ideal venue for Groups & Clubs. This unique
collection of vehicles and accessories was
started by Mr. William Smith, who was very
particular about the authenticity and impeccable
condition of each carriage. This tradition is
now continued by his daughter Caroline
Dale-Leech, who has spent her life with horses
and driving, learning from her grandfather as
well as her father. One of the more unusual
aspects of the collection is that it is a
working museum, and the owner ensures that the
vehicles are regularly out on the road being
used not locked away behind closed doors. All
the vehicles have worked regularly in films and
TV. An all year venue as much is under cover.
Visitors are welcome to browse around at their
leisure. If you are lucky, you may see the
blacksmith at work or the staff grooming the
horses and ponies or the staff preparing one of
the wedding carriages for one of the many
wedding this year. School parties and clubs
especially catered for.
