The Oxford Story is on the south side of Broad
Street. It is a multi-million pound visitor
attraction by Heritage Projects, designers of
the much-praised Jorvik Viking exhibition at
York. You climb aboard a medieval desk, powered
by its own computer-controlled, four-wheel drive
engine, and take a 30-minute ride through the
800-year history of Oxford University with
sights, sounds and smells to bring the past
alive. It has a commentary written by Desmond
Wilcox, husband of That's Life presenter Esther
Rantzen (old girl of Somerville College), and
spoken by Mastermind inquisitor Magnus Magnusson
(old boy of Jesus College). You may also hear
the voices of children's TV star Timmy Mallet or
commentators in French, German, Italian, Spanish
or Japanese, describe what you are seeing. Open
daily from 9.30am to 5pm (9am-6pm July and
August). 10am to 4.30pm November-March. Adults
£4.75, children under 17 £3.75, OAPs and
students £4.15. Family ticket (two adults, two
children) £15.50. There is also a special ticket
including admission to New College and Magdalen

One-hour City tours on "hop on - hop off"
open-top buses. Headphones provide commentary in
a choice of seven languages. Board the tour at
any of our 19 stops on the route. Tickets are
available from the kiosk at Bay 14 in Gloucester
Green Bus Station or from our drivers or ticket
sellers located at busy stops in the City.
Ticket holders are entitled to discounts on City
Sightseeing Tours in other cities in the UK and
around the world as well on some local
attractions.

Hour-long open-top bus tours of the city centre
with a live commentary. Tickets are valid all
day and passengers may get on or off at any
stop. Tickets entitle the holder to various
discounts at attractions and gift shops in
Oxford, as well as on Guide Friday tours in

railway station, the bus station, the Guide
