Blink as you drive through and
you could miss this village which is more of an
area than a collection of dwellings. The old
village forge can be seen at Balterley Smithy
where farm horses were shod and agricultural
implements were made before mechanisation.
But nearby is a jewel for many
that they could easily miss. Turn north at
Balterley and you reach the small hamlet of
Englesea Brook. The old chapel built in 1828 has
also been opened as a museum of Primitive
Methodism and, if this interests you, it is well
worth a visit.
