Great Orme Mines are situated within the
picturesque surroundings of the Great Orme
Country Park. There is easy access from the A55
via the A470. The Great Orme is only one and a
half hours drive from Liverpool or Manchester,
making it an ideal venue for a day trip from the
North West. The mines are only one mile from the
centre of Llandudno, Wales' premier seaside
resort. Visitor Centre: Open to non mine
visitors, with displays depicting life and times
in the Bronze Age, archaeological finds and

The Llanrwst Almshouses
are a unique example of a Jacobean Almshouse
complex and are now Grade II listed. Set off the
town's historic Ancaster Square and in the
shadow of St Grwst Parish Church. Established in
1610 by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, the almshouses
provided housing for elderly members of the area
until the 1970s.
These recently restored
buildings now house a community museum offering
visitors a rare insight into the daily life of a
Welsh Market Town through exhibits, temporary
exhibitions and a unique oral history project,
bring the past to life. This award-winning
museum retains much of its atmosphere and
character, with open ranges and low-hanging oak
beams and unique horizontal room dividers all
adding to the experience. Restored period rooms,
interactive displays and a sensory herb garden
in which refreshments are available. Wheelchair
access is possible to the ground floor only,
although interactive displays are available upon
request.

Minera Lead Mines

Lead Mining has taken place at Minera since at
least Medieval times. Remains of later 18th and
19th Century lead a processing areas, a beam
house, winding engine and boiler houses have
been excavated and restored and are on view.
Working machinery has been installed and
visitors can have a hands-on experience panning
for lead. The Interpretation Centre outlines the
history of the site and what it was like down
the mine. Visitors can walk through the remains
and walk to the top of the Beam Engine House
which have fine views of the site and
surrounding countryside. A country park
surrounds the Lead Mines with scenic walks and a
picnic area.

One of the best 50 small
museums in the country (The Independent). The
Museum is open from 9.00am all year round except
on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and
New Year's Day.
The admission charge for
the Museum is included in the price of admission
to Caernarfon Castle. The Museum is located
within The Castle at Caernarfon in North Wales.
The closest rail station is Bangor (Gwynedd) and
the closest airport is Manchester. The car park
is adjacent to the Castle. Other attractions
close to the Museum include Conwy, Harlech and
Beaumaris Castles; Plas Mawr (Elizabethan town
house); Llanberis Slate Museum; Electric
Mountain; and Snowdonia National Park.

Betws-y-Coed Motor Museum

Betws-y-Coed Motor Museum was created from the
private collection of the Houghton Family and
housed in the mellow stone buildings of the old
Betws Farm which overlooks the beautiful River
Llugwy in the heart of the village. The varied
exhibits include exotic and rare cars; Bugatti,
Aston Martin, Bentley, Riley MPH, etc; and the
more common MGs, Rover; Austin Sevens, Bullnose
Morris, Ford T and Y Models, Morgan, British
Motor Bikes, Childs Racing Car and Half Size T
Fords, Land Speed Record Jet Engine and Motoring
Memorabilia. There are normally over 30 motor
vehicles on display. Entrance is from the main
village Car and Coach Park. Coach parties, car
clubs, school trips are welcomed at special
rates.

Segontium Roman Museum vividly portrays the
story of the conquest and occupation of Wales by
the Romans and displays the finds from the
nearby auxiliary fort of Segontium, one of the
most famous in Britain. Combine a visit to the
museum with exploration of the site of the Roman
fort, cared for by Cadw, Welsh Historic
Monuments. Segontium Roman Museum is situated on
the A4085, on the road leading to Beddgelert,
about one mile from the centre of Caernarfon.
