Just outside
this pretty Monmouthshire village stands
well-preserved Raglan Castle, a mid-15th
century fortified house used as a fortress
during the War of the Roses. Said to be the
last medieval castle built in Britain, it
eventually became the home of the Earls of
Worcester. During the Civil War it suffered a
10-week siege by Cromwell’s forces.
