Facilities include, undercover floodlit golf
range and two parkland courses designed by F W
Hawtree & Son. The greens are built to full USGA
specification, thereby dispensing any need for
temporary greens during the winter months.
Opened in 1997, the existing 9 hole par 3
course, while user friendly from the front tees,
offers a true test of golf from the back tees.
The new 9 holes (part of a par 70, 6500 yard
course) was opened in 1999. Built for the
discerning golfer five of the 9 holes feature
water including the spectacular 8th with its 180
yard carry across water to peninsula green.
The course of the Royal North Devon Golf Club is
situated on the Northam Burrows which is a large
area of common land two miles north of Bideford
and today plays on the oldest links in England.
The Burrows at first glance look too flat for a
challenging golf course but this is an illusion.
The course is in fact quite hilly and hazards
such as ditches, burns, bunkers and the great
sea rushes make it difficult at this 6665 yard
par 72 from the white tees and 6398 yards from
the yellow tees. This course is a must for all
golfers playing in the south west.

The 18 hole, par 70 golf course extends to
nearly 6000 yards in an exceptionally scenic and
peaceful location. The interesting and
challenging course, with its many water hazards,
is enjoyable and memorable to advanced or
occasional players. Whether you are coming for
the day or staying with us you will undoubtedly
appreciate the tranquillity and natural
surroundings. The 114 acre site is a real haven
to wildlife with the mix of gardens, ponds,
heaths, woodland copses and the river valley.
Within the grounds are fishing lakes, tennis
courts, indoor leisure centre with heated pool,
spa, sauna and bistro bar, all of which can be
used by day visitors as well as residential
guests. Your catering requirements will be taken
care of by our hospitality manager who will be
pleased to discuss any particular requirements.

Saunton Golf Club Is the jewel amongst golf
courses in the South West. It is without doubt
one of the finest 36 holes of links golf in the
British Isles. Golf at its very best! Saunton is
situated on North Devon's beautiful coast. There
are two traditional links 18 hole courses which
have hosted some major events in year past - it
is the venue for the English Amateur
Championship in 2001. Saunton is a 'must course
to visit', for golfing touring the West Country
with so much to offer near at hand for the non
golfer.

The course seems to attract the most gracious of
people both members and paying public. A limited
snack menu has been introduced, with plans in
the pipeline for a modest club house and pro
shop and is hoped to start building in the
winter. At present the course is a 9 hole par 32
comprising of five par 3s, three par 4s and a
par 5, offering a challenging short game for the
more experienced and a fun game for beginner and
the young. Its gentle slopes are forgiving for
those in their more twilight years, providing
gentle exercise in beautiful surroundings.
Trolleys, clubs and shoes are available to hire.
The previous owner and founder Martin Petherick,
and his wife Christine, was a keen
conservationist, the evidence being three
beautiful lakes with an abundance of wild
grasses, flowers and wildlife.
Attractive and
challenging 9 hole, 18 Tee, Par 64 heathland
course with extensive views of surrounding
countryside renowned for it's free drainage and
superb greens, the course remains open when many
others are closed, an easy walking course.
A course to test the
best and delight the rest. High above, and
overlooking the Bristol Channel with spectacular
views of North Devon's incomparable coastline,
distant Lundy Island and Welsh Beacons. Lush
fairways, tempting but tantalising greens, and a
sometimes mischievous wind, all provide the
ingredients for unbridled joy or utter despair.
