Once a tin
mining centre and Stannary town on the banks
of the River Teign, picturesque Chagford lies
in the Dartmoor National Park and has
prehistoric origins. A number of stone circles
grace the moors. Nearby Gridleigh has the
ruins of an old castle. The local church of St
Michael’s dates from the 15th century and is
built of granite.
