A former stagecoach town,
Whitchurch lies on the banks of the River Test
close to Watership Down, the landscape that
inspired Richard Adams to pen his bestseller of
the same name.
In previous centuries the area’s
prosperity came from the manufacture of silk. An
old mill still produces silk and is open to the
public. |
