This ebullient small West
Sussex town lies on the banks of the River
Adur and was a busy port during the Middle
Ages.
Its church dates from the 12th century.
According to legend, the town’s first church
was erected by St. Cuthman when he stopped here
in the 8th century.
Prehistoric Cissbury Ring
and Chanctonbury Ring are close by and there
are splendid views from atop Steyning Round
Hill. |
