Indoor bowls is a game
which any age group can participate and can be
played all year around. Indoor bowling is a
simulation of outdoor bowling in which green
strips are used as bowling; carpet or short mat.
There are slight rule changes and condition in
indoor bowls as compared to outdoor bowling. The
benefits of playing the game are better physical
health, release of stress, social interaction
and mental fitness.
There are two types of
indoor bowls based on the type of green strip
they are: Carpet Bowls - Usually played
in social centres and local meeting places it
can be used as a means to generate revenue for
village halls and brings the community together.
Short Mat Bowls - a smaller version of
outdoor bowls, short mat bowls has become very
popular here as well as in Ireland.
