A small, recumbent stone
circle lies in the local park and acts as a keen
reminder of the area’s prehistoric past. Many
ancient artefacts have been found here,
particularly in the vicinity of Mormond Hill.
The village of Strichen was,
however, only created in 1764 by the local
landowners, the Frasers, who needed homes for
their estate workers. They even offered a £100
reward to the first man who completed his house.
Most of the village is an ‘Outstanding
Conservation Area’.
