Lying close
to the Slapton Ley nature reserve, this pretty
village has its own long stretch of sandy
beach and, like neighbouring Slapton Sands,
was used as a training ground for American
troops as they prepared for D-Day. A Sherman
tank parked in the village acts as a memorial
to hundreds of soldiers killed on one
exercise. Nearby are photogenic views over
Start Bay. |
