| This pretty
former coaching town lies in the magnificent
Teign Valley near Exeter and is well known by
climbers as the location of a dramatic
limestone rock formation. Famous visitors to
the town include William of Orange and Madame
Royale, who sought sanctuary following the
execution of her parents, Louis XIV and Marie
Antoinette. Nearby are prehistoric caves and
the mansion of Ugbrooke House, set in rolling
parkland landscaped by 'Capability' Brown. The
10-acre Rock Centre boasts magnificent views,
mossy dells and limestone cliffs. |
