Established in 1836, The Start Point Lighthouse, has guided vessels along the English Channel for over 150 years and is situated on one of the most exposed peninsulas on the English Coast.

The Dartmoor Railway operates on the route of the old Southern Railway line. The 15 mile Dartmoor Railway climbs 600 feet from the Tarka Line, near Coleford through Sampford Courtenay and Okehampton and onwards to Meldon, high on the flank of Dartmoor.

Lydford Gorge – a not to be missed 3-mile circular walk through the deepest gorge in the south west.

This lush oak-wooded, steep-sided river gorge (the deepest in the South West) has been a famous natural attraction for centuries.

Walks both long and short enable you to discover all parts of the gorge and its abundant wildlife.

Discover the magical 30-metre-high Whitelady Waterfall.

Walk out over the bubbling Devil's Cauldron.

Watch the woodland birds from
the bird hide.

Enjoy Devon cream teas at one of the tea-rooms at the gorge's two entrances. Strenuous walking, rugged terrain, vertical drops. Unsuitable for visitors with heart complaints or walking difficulties.
