Dating back to the Middle
Ages, this sleepy village just 16 miles from
the centre of Salisbury lies within an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The remains of spectacular Fonthill Abbey – a
gatehouse and part of the north wing – can
still be seen.
The Gothic-style building was erected in the
19th century by William Beckford on the site
of an earlier Palladian house. |
