The Portland Arms is one of the Norths best kept
and friendly hotels, set only half a mile from
the dramatic North Sea coastline on the
outskirts of the small fishing village of
Lybster. Formerly an 1850's Coaching Inn we
offer the finest accommodation, really good
food, produced from some of the best local
produce and a very warm and welcoming
atmosphere. Each of the en-suite bedrooms have
their own unique style and yet maintain the
character of this traditional building. Equipped
with direct dial telephones, remote control
colour television, hair dryers, hospitality
trays, self adjusting central heating, large
fluffy white towels and our own quality linen.

We offer the perfect base for exploring the
county of Caithness with it's many scenic and
historic attractions, not to mention the wide
variety of wildlife and plants. The Croft House
offers comfortable accommodation and delicious
breakfasts. There is much to see and do, white
water riding, hill walking, archaeology play on
our local golf course (the club house is the old
Highland Railway Station), or enjoy a video,
play the piano or just relax in our comfortable
lounge with welcoming open coal fire. Ideal for
visiting the Orkney Isles on one of the splendid
day tours from nearby John O'Groats. A warm
