Inchcolm Island lies just
offshore in the Firth of Forth south of Dalgety
Bay. It is thought that the name is derived from a
connection with St Columba and it was considered
to be a holy island with many people asking to be
buried there.
During World War II, defenses were erected on the
to protect Rosyth naval dockyards.
