Scotland’s best kept secret for over 40 years!

Hidden beneath a Scottish farmhouse is a tunnel leading to Scotland’s Secret Bunker.

24,000 square feet of secret accommodation on two levels, 100 feet underground to protect Government staff in the event of a nuclear attack during the Cold War. You enter this amazing underground labyrinth down a 150 metre tunnel, from the innocent looking farmhouse to the bunker below into a world behind hermetically sealed three tons of blast proof doors.

After the end of World War II, we entered a period which became known as "The Cold War" during which our relationship with the Warsaw Pact countries was less than friendly.

The Government's plan was to establish a chain of early warning radar stations along the east coast of the UK. Those built in areas of greatest risk were sited underground.

Here at Troywood in Fife, close to the key enemy targets of the Royal Navy's Rosyth dockyard and the fighter aircraft of RAF Leuchars, was one of these. There were several sizes of bunkers and this is one of the largest.
