Castle Douglas, DG7 2NF Tel: 01644

This loch is situated on the A762, approximately
8 miles outside New Galloway towards
Kirkcudbright.
Woodhall is a large loch with plenty of
sheltered bays holding strong healthy fighting
fish for good coarse fishing days all year
round. The added attraction is the different
wildlife all around the loch.
The loch is easily accessible from the roadside
laybys, with just a short walk to the banks.
The Dalswinton Estate
fishing’s are within the lower reaches of the
river and are divided into 2 beats.
The entire stretch
offers good holding for late autumn salmon and
early season sea trout.
There are 23 named pools
or flats and these provide for the full range of
methods. The beats are well marked. Fishing huts
are located next to each of the beats. Most of
the pools are easily fished, but some sections
require a bit of care when wading.
The Estate has a manager
who oversees the fishing on a daily basis and
who can give added assistance to those anglers
who feel the need for a 'ghillie'.
