Walks & Viewpoints

Ashworth Valley

A 2 mile walk to Norden beside the pretty Cheesden Brook along its tree-lined valley. Located at Hooley Bridge, on the Bury-Rochdale Road (the B6222), and ends at the Rochdale-Edenfield Road (the A680).


Boggart Hole Clough

Blackley, Manchester

Green Flag Awarded wooded ravine runs through the immediate north-eastern inner suburbs of Manchester, yet it is totally unspoilt. It is accessible by path from Rochdale Road. There is a large boating lake with a tree covered island.


Bruntwood Park

Pleasant walks beside the lovely gardens and brook, heavily wooded with evergreens and deciduous trees. There is an 18 hole putting green, children's adventure playground, pets corner and a BMX Cycle track. Entrance located on the A5149 Cheadle to Cheadle Hulme Road.

Relaxing river and countryside walks with many natural and man-made water courses. A permanent orienteering trail can be found amongst the parks many walkways.


Daisy Nook Country Park

Between Oldham and Ashton-under-Lyne

The River Medlock runs through a wooded valley, between Oldham and Ashton under Lyne, a pleasant circular walk in National Trust parkland.

Green Flag Award winner 2003, Debdale Park's facilities include Tennis courts, Bowling greens, a Basketball court, Football pitches - 5-a-side and grass pitch, Skateboarding ramp, 9 Hole Pitch and Putt, Children’s play area, Orienteering course and a conservation pond area.

Named after the famous tennis champion from Stockport, a  14 mile walking route which spans the Borough, from Woodford in the south to Reddish in the north.


Healey Dell

A thickly wooded valley, host to a variety of wildlife. A disused 1800s railway line is now a nature trail!

The farm consists of a herd of highland cattle and flock of Hebridean sheep, pigs, sheep, goats and donkeys, not forgetting the chickens. The Animal Centre features smaller pets like rabbits and guinea pigs, which can be handled and at certain times of day the poultry can be fed.
