A Victorian former
mill owner's house set in 36 aces of parkland
and ancient woodland, the museum is host to a
wide range of unusual and exciting collections
of collections from around the globe.
Once the home of George Sheard from 1875-1902,
this Gothic house became a museum nearly a
hundred years ago in 1911 and was named after
its first curator, Walter Bagshaw.
Where else could you
hear a Shirley Bassey hit and come face to face
with a Ganges crocodile? Bagshaw Museum is a
very surprising and entertaining place!

Batley local history galleries including stories
about iconic institutions such as Fox's Biscuits
and Batley Variety Club; the new 'Spirit of South
Asia' gallery and a new temporary gallery
showcasing the Saucy seaside postcards of

Osiris', an atmospheric Egyptology gallery where

The National Museum of Photography, Film &
Television was established in 1983 and attracts
over 750,000 visitors each year. The museum has
a collection of over three million items. These
include: the worlds first negative and the
earliest television footage and the first
example of moving pictures of Leeds Bridge dated
1888. Also a digital media gallery. Visitors can
enjoy a hands-on experience of the media,
learning how television cameras work or trying
their hand at animation plus lots more. The
Museum has a combination of permanent galleries,
temporary exhibitions and three cinemas showing
a variety of . Between them you can explore the
stories behind photography, film and television.
Also the museum boasts a programme of special
exhibitions. There are three cinemas: IMAX,
Pictureville Cinema and the Cubby Broccoli

Home of the British Coal collection. A unique
opportunity to go 450 feet underground at one of
Britain oldest working mines. Models and
machinery depict the history, conditions and

This historic mill holds some of the most
magnificent and diverse pieces of motoring
genius ever assembled, from the Benz Patent
Motor Wagon of 1885 to the newest jewel, the

The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds was opened
in 1996 as the new home for the national
collection of arms and armour. Each of the five
themed galleries covering War, Tournament,
Self-Defence, Hunting and the arms and armour of
the Orient offers something to captivate every
visitor - Henry VIII's tournament armour for
instance, the replica Edwardian Gun Room, or a
chance to shoot a crossbow. There is an exciting
combination of spectacular displays, dramatic
interpretations, live action events, interactive
technology and thrilling exhibitions.
The fun and excitement continues outside in the
summer months where you can enjoy skilled
demonstrations of jousting, falconry and
horsemanship. By watching our expert gunmaker in
the Craft Court, you can discover how history
