Originally designed by
Tom Morris Senior, Newcastle United Golf Club
was initially established in 1892, although at a
different address to its current location. In
contradiction to the name it actually has no
current connections to the football club. It is
an 18 hole 6596 yard par 72 course.
Visitors
are
welcome to play the course but it is restricted
to members on Sundays. Facilities include
tipping green, putting green and small practise
area. The clubhouse is large, comfortable and
welcoming whether being used for a cooling drink
or for a hot meal from its wide selection. The

functions, parties etc.
The City of Newcastle Golf Club was originally
formed in 1891 and is a well maintained 18 hole
parkland course measuring 6528 yards and with a
par of 72. Located approximately three miles
North of Newcastle on the B1318 this is a
testing course due to its lengthy fairways. The
greens are also well protected and quite fast
providing challenging putting conditions. Add to
this the many natural hazards and the increasing
difficulty in windy conditions and it provides
golfers with a great golfing experience. The
club also has an excellent clubhouse and
facilities.
Established originally
as a nine hole course in 1893 and developed to
18 holes later the South Shields Golf Club is
one of the oldest clubs in its vicinity. The
course is an 18 hole 6174 yard Par 71 coastal
heathland course, situated next to Cleadon Water
Tower.
Open to sea breezes, which
increases the difficulty of some of the holes,
the course is very easy walking and renowned for
the quality of its greens. It also rarely closes
due to its natural drainage of limestone rock on
which it is built. Well worth a visit. See our
website.
