North East England Holiday and Tourism Information

The North East of England has much to offer the holiday-maker or tourist, whatever type of holiday they are seeking.

There are traditional holiday resorts like Bridlington, Whitby, Scarborough and Whitley Bay; the isolation of Kielder Forest; the attractive landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country and historic cities such as York, Durham, Leeds, Harrogate, and Newcastle.

Undoubtedly one of the UK's finest areas of outstanding beauty with wild moorland, quiet dales, quaint fishing villages, seaside towns and historic sites is The North York Moors National Park.

Another area of interest is the East Riding of Yorkshire which includes the coastal areas of Bridlington, Hornsea, Withernsea and Kingston upon Hull (usually known just as Hull) with its nearby majestic Humber Bridge.

This is a masterpiece of engineering with a central unsupported span of over 1400 metres.

Don't be deceived if we say that South Yorkshire includes the once famous coal-mining areas around Doncaster, Wakefield, Barnsley and Rotherham together with the home of English steel and cutlery, Sheffield. It would be very easy to fall into the trap of expecting bleak surroundings when, in actual fact, the area is mostly green and pleasant land.
