We offer Self Catering and Bed & Breakfast accommodation overlooking the North Pennines, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Located 12 miles west of Durham City between the villages of Wolsingham and Tow Law.

Set on a 300 acre traditional Dales mixed farm. 

 


Conservation areas with opportunities for bird watching and seeing a variety of wildlife, particularly our owls.

BED & BREAKFAST: 18th century barn with its stone roof and converted Gin Gan which takes up to 13 guests and still retains former character. All bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities and are traditionally furnished.

SELF CATERING: Sandstone cottages have been converted to a high standard from traditional farm buildings with gas central heating, our own supply of spring water, TV's and videos, double glazing and en-suite bathrooms.
 

We are ideally located for the numerous scenic and historical sites of Northumbria. Less than half an hours drive from Raby Castle, Bowes Museum, High Force, Killhope Wheel, Beamish Open Air Museum, Durham City, The Metro Centre, Hadrians Wall and Barnard Castle. The cottage is set on a picturesque green in Thornley Village, on a sheep and cattle farm, situated on the eastern edge of the North Pennines - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Howard and Elizabeth invite you to enjoy the magnificent views over Durham City and The Durham Dales from the comfort of Strawberry Hill Farm Caravan and Camping Park.

 

 

   We opened the park in the Spring of 2002 and we have landscaped 6 acres into a park where we have 40 touring pitches and 10 tent pitches.

As experienced campers ourselves we know that guests will appreciate the peace and privacy we are aiming for.

Our hire fleet of caravan holiday homes are all 6 berth comprising of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom plus a pull out sofa bed in the lounge area. Each bathroom has a walk- in shower, which is en-suite to the main bedroom. Additional features include a full size gas cooker, microwave oven, widescreen TV, DVD player, micro hi fi system and the usual kitchen appliances – ie. toaster, kettle and food mixer etc.
 

Touring Pitches: Each of our touring pitches features 16 amp hook-up and a choice between hardstanding or grass pitches (subject to availability). For our less able campers, we have a fully contained bathroom, with full facilities for the disabled. Dogs are welcome but must be under control at all times.

Self-Catering: Two recently renovated stone barn conversions set in beautiful countryside. South facing patio areas. Ample parking outside each property. Disabled access. Children welcome. Short breaks available. Non-smoking.

 

Walkers are welcome, and we have brochures on the many walks and cycling routes in the area, and can provide lock-up facilities for bikes. We will provide packed lunches if required and clothes drying facilities. Relax outdoors by the garden pond or indoors on one of the many window seats, and enjoy breathtaking views and tranquil scenery for many miles around. You may even see a deer venturing out of the woodland or foxes playing in front of the house.

The property is a mid-terraced Georgian styled town house situated on a cobbled street, on a short steep hill in the heart of Durham City.

 

Built about 1850 and retaining many original features including Yorkshire range and period fireplaces, but including all modern conveniences.  

 
   A taste of nostalgia without the hassle. Full gas central heating.

 

The house comprises - First Floor: Double bedroom, single bedroom, bathroom with shower over bath.

To the rear of the property there is a small private courtyard with fountain and garden furniture. Convenient for train station 10-15 mins walk (bus and taxi available), bus station a few mins walk. Castle, cathedral, riverside walks and theatre are within easy walking distance. On street meter parking. Sorry, no smoking in the house. Not suitable for pets.
