Museums long ago ceased to be stuffy
rooms full of glass cases containing bits of old pottery
and fossilised bones.
Today even most conventional
museums including displays which change but over recent
years there has been a growth in industrial and "living"
museums.
Here you can learn about local heritage, get a feel for how people lived
and worked, the hardships they endured...

Web:

Built in 1828, this
national museum tells the story of the Primitive
Methodists, who originated in this area.
Exhibits invite the visitor to explore how these
working-class Victorian folk thought about
church, work, life and the world about them.
The museum houses personal items belonging to
the founders of the movement, a grand collection
of Primitive Methodist pottery, as well as
religious banners, and missionary artefacts that
raise questions about Victorian ideas on race.
Experience the past through our Magic Lantern
show, children’s costumes, and games. Go back to
a time when people thought dancing, athletics
and trousers were controversial. We also offer a
shop and complimentary tea or coffee! M6
