An industrial town, Haydock’s
prosperity was built on the exploitation of coal
from the Lancashire coalfield. Today, however, its
fame has more to do with horses.
The Haydock Park racecourse is a premier
attraction in the northwest together with the
award winning ‘World of Glass’ heritage museum at
nearby St Helens.
