Victorian steam-powered yacht on Coniston Water.


The steam yacht Gondola was first launched in 1859 and now, completely rebuilt by the Trust, provides a passenger service in its opulently upholstered saloons.


This is the perfect way to view Coniston’s spectacular scenery.

Walks & Viewpoints

The Sandwalker of Morecambe Bay

Morecambe Bay -- a large ingress at the edge of the Lake District -- is internationally famous for its walk.

The bay is also renowned for its dangerous sea currents and notorious quicksand.

If you want to walk across, you should enlist the services of a guide.
