Enjoy the great sport of
fly fishing combined with a rugged, beautiful
and scenic experience at Cowpe Reservoir, an
exclusive 16.5 acre trout water with spectacular
views over the surrounding landscape. Fed by
three clear moorland streams the water is
crystal clear and close to neutral in pH,
providing a healthy environment where the fish
thrive.
The fishery is stocked with
hard-fighting Rainbow and Blue Trout, most in
the 2 to 5lb range, but with a few fish running
to double figures and also home to a head of
superb wild Brown Trout. So, if you are looking
to get away from it all for a couple of hours or
even a day then wet a line at Cowpe. We promise
you will not be disappointed.
Stocks Reservoir is the
largest fishery in the North West of England.
Situated at the head of the Hodder Valley in the
Forest of Bowland - An Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty. Stocks has a wild and unspoiled
quality the perfect place for a days fly
fishing. Stocks Reservoir has four and a half
miles of fishable shoreline and 350 acres of
open water. 24 boats, tackle shop, café separate
male, female and disabled toilets.
2008 season: The
prospects for Stocks look fantastic, never
before have we had such a good size range of
rainbows, browns and blues. In addition to the
usual quality 2-4lb trout and the famous Stocks
doubles we have introduced many more 4-7lb fish.
We have found that trout in this size range
possess a superior combination of speed,
strength and stamina, which makes them the
perfect quarry for fly fishing. The pre-season
stocking of 4000 trout was spread around the
water so many areas will fish well from the
first day on February 23rd.
