No visit to Chester is complete without a cruise on the Dee - the best way to appreciate the beauty and character of this great city.

 

 
Chester Boat offer cruises of half hour duration every 30 minutes during the season and craft are available for private charter, day time and evenings.

 

A particularly attractive 2 hour cruise to the Ironbridge through Eaton Estate, home of the Duke of Westminster, leaves The Groves at 12pm & 230pm daily throughout the season. Friday & Saturday in July and August 1 hour Ghost tours set sail at 7pm and Floodlit cruises 9pm - 10pm.

 

Themed cruise every Sunday evening on board our showboats 7.30 - 10.30pm. Open April to October 11am 'til 5.30pm daily. October to April weekends only 11am 'til 4pm. For further details on our boat tours see our website.

Enjoy the flamboyant declaration of the Chester Town Crier in the heart of the City at the ancient Cross, at the junction of Bridge Street, Watergate Street and Eastgate Street. The shout which usually lasts about 15 minutes begins at 12 noon every Tuesday to Saturday from Easter to the end of September.

The oldest horse races in Britain, staged on the Roodee, once the site of the massive Roman harbour. Chester Racecourse is now ranked as the 4th best attended in the whole of Britain, averaging 18,000 visitors per day at its race meetings.

Ragamuffins is a huge soft play area in Saltney, Chester. It serves really nice snacks and drinks in a coffee bar style environment (complete with proper leather sofas), has a 42" plasma screen that shows sky sports, a small indoor football pitch that's part of the play area and the longest indoor wavy slide in the UK. There's also a selection of tasty cakes and some really healthy snacks and drinks for youngsters (like innocent smoothies and organic juice).

The park opens at 9.30am each morning and rides start at 10am.
