Citybus operates approximately 60 routes in
Belfast. It maintains a fleet of over 250 buses
for this purpose. Operating on the main arterial
route from the south side of Belfast and
Newtownabbey, Citybus services 1 (City Express),
83 (Ormeau) and 84 (Four Winds) offer passengers
more buses more often. These QBC routes are the
first of up to 15 to be introduced in Belfast.
With specially designated bus lanes, the latest
low floor buses and faster journey times, this
is fast becoming the way to travel. Park and
Ride: Services aimed at encouraging motorists to
park their cars and use public transport.
Facilities are currently offered in East Belfast
at Station Street, Bridge Street and Middlepath
Street. In North Belfast the Park and Ride
facility is located at York Street.

Ulsterbus was formed in April 1967 from the bus
operation of the Ulster Transport Authority.
Ulsterbus is responsible for virtually all bus
services in Northern Ireland except Belfast city
services which are operated by Citybus.
Ulsterbus currently has 20 depots across
Northern Ireland employing 1,250 drivers and
operating approximately 1,100 buses. In
2000/2001 over 46 million passenger journeys
were recorded. Ulsterbus services are detailed
in 21 local area timetables available free of
charge.
