Lying in picturesque
moorland, Brompton’s 14th century church
provided the location for the wedding of the
great Romantic poet William Wordsworth and his
sweetheart Mary Hutchinson, a local farmer’s
daughter, in 1802. His life and work are
celebrated at a gallery at Gallow’s Hill. |
