At Beacon Hill are 70
acres of iron workings dating from Saxon times
while, at low tide, a large ‘rock’ sometimes
pokes its head out of the sea in the bay. It
represents the remains of the neighbouring
village of Shipden, which slipped under the
waves in the 14th century. Not far from Cromer
stands Felbrigg Hall near the small village of
Felbrigg.
The Jacobean mansion was built in the 17th century and its beautiful
estate landscaped by Humphrey Repton. Now a
National Trust property, it has fine
paintings, a stunning library and walled
gardens. |
