Owned and developed by Ken & Eunice Barker this
picturesque fishery is one of the country's top
coarse fishing waters. With 3 lakes set in more
than 12.5 acres Sapphire can cater for all
anglers, from the carp angler looking for that
personal best to the match and pleasure
fisherman hoping for that huge net full at the
end of the days session, Sapphire Lakes won't
disappoint!! Facilities include ample car
parking - meals & refreshments - toilet and
shower cubicles and for those anglers looking to
get a way with the family or on their own for a
few days there's always the will furnished
holiday home.
Two coarse lakes; the larger contains good heads
of tench, bream, roach, rudd, perch, carp and
chubb. The smaller coarse lake is heavily
stocked with carp to 34lbs14oz. Catches to 20lb
have been common recently. There is also a trout
lake. Waggler and feeder are still the best on
the coarse lake. Try fishing close to features
such as an island or weedbed. Forget boilies -
basic baits such as sweetcorn are most
profitable on the carp lake. Restrictions:-
Minimum line 8lb and barbless hooks must be
used. Groundbait by feeder only. Hemp and tares
banned. Keepnets in matches only.
Holmedale:- carp and roach. Cavendish:- roach to
1lb, bream to 3lb 8oz, rudd, perch and odd carp.
Sherwood:- tench to 5lb, roach, skimmers, rudd,
perch and carp. Pleasure nets to 30lb are
common. Depths reach six feet. Corn, maggot,
meat and caster score on pole or waggler. When
all else fails, try a light feeder rig with
either maggot or caster. Restrictions:- No
bloodworm, joker, high protein pastes, boilies,
peanuts and beans. Groundbait in moderation.
Keepnets on Sherwood only.
