An ancient
and tranquil market town, Oundle is surrounded on
three sides by the River Nene.
Its 13th century
church has a remarkable 200ft spire and is a local
landmark.
The town dates back to Saxon times and
has many narrow streets and intimate alleyways.
The Talbot Inn was rebuilt in 1626 with stone from
nearby Fotheringhay Castle, the place where Mary
Queen of Scots was beheaded in 1587.
