This handsome red-brick house was built in 1773.
Located in the centre of Brampton it is handy
for Huntingdon Racecourse and the railway
station. It was converted into a restaurant in
1981. A fortnightly changing menu offers dishes
with quite wide appeal, though the essential
trend is towards traditional with a modern
inclination. They also serve a simpler bar menu,
including wonderful sandwiches on either brown,
white bread or ciabatta.

Pizza Express remains a hugely popular bedrock
of casual eating. Its popularity is testimony to
the fact that across the country, they have
restaurants where you will always be guaranteed
a good nosh, with children's tastes being well
catered for. The wine contains some surprisingly
good offerings, especially their non-oaked
Italian Chardonnay from Araldica, while the
house wines are very drinkable indeed.

classical music of hitherto. A range of dishes

well-priced lunch menu to the five course

budgets. The Pink Geranium was first made famous
when Prince Charles named it as his favourite
restaurant. Since then things have moved on and
the title of Restaurant of the Year for the

Orton Hall is an attractive and quite unusual
country house on the outskirts of Peterborough.
There is original panelling about and the
skyline has some affinity with the Victorian
architects, Page and Garling, who remodelled
Grimsthorpe Castle, not far away.
